Bath, with a feeling of Italy in Somerset, England
Join us on a tour to the lovely city of Bath and some wonderful gardens where Italian influence is our theme. We will visit Stourhead, Bowood, Iford Manor, Heale Garden and Cliveden near London for having an understanding about the love of Italian gardens in England We will also visit the private garden of Tania Compton in Wiltshire and talk to her about English Garden design in Britain today. We will stay at lovely Abbey Hotel in Bath and also have time for exploring the city. Cicerone on this tour is Swedish author and garden expert Christina Högardh-Ihr.

Tour – Program
1st of June
Arrival at London/Heathrow am where our bus will pick us up and go directly to Bath for check-inn at Abbey Hotel. Afternoon is free for exploring Bath. Take a walk in Royal Victoria Park, visit the fashion Museum or the Jane Austen Center or just have a stroll in the streets and perhaps do some shopping. We will meet at 3.30 pm at The Pump Room for Afternoon Tea.

2nd of June
After breakfast we will visit Stourhead where the banker Henry Hoare built his famous garden 1747-1789, inspired by antique environments. A small lake was buildt in the landscape garden surrounded by temples, statues and woodland plantings. We will have a guided tour and thereafter lunch and some free time before we go to Bowood, a garden with a famous Italian terrace, where the plantings have recently been restored by Arabella Lennox Boyd.

3th of June
Morning visit at Iford Manor, by many considered the most beautiful garden in England, designed by Harold Peto, who lived here from 1899-1933. Architect and landscape architect Harold Peto loved Italy, where he also had lived and worked for several years. The garden at Iford Manor has beautiful Italian elements and is very well kept. Guided tour by the owners. Lunch in local pub.
In the afternoon we will visit Heale House & Garden where we also will meet the design of Harald Peto. Possibility to visit spa in Bath.
Dinner at leisure.
4th of June
Morning visit at Spilsbury Farm, the private garden of Tania Compton, garden designer. We will have a guided tour in her beautiful, wild garden and talk to her about garden design in England today. Lunch at local pub. Afternoon visit at Reddish House & Garden, once owned by famous photographer Cecil Beaton. The garden is recently restored and designed by Tania Compton.
Dinner with the group in the evening.
5th of June
Check-out and leave Bath for Cliveden Garden in Buckinghamshire famous for its Italian villa and a rose garden with hundreds of English Austin roses. Lunch at Cliveden and a shopping stop at Petersham Nurseries before leaving for airport.

Price includes; professional Guide every day, 4 nights in double rooms at 4* hotels with breakfast included. 1 dinner, 1 Afternoon Tea, 1 lunch, entrance to 7 different gardens, all transportation in England.

The first registration for this tour is closed 60 days before the departure date, then a reserve list is opened for the tour from which late registration is possible and place is given on the tour if any cancellation are made or if there is subject to availability. Please note that this trip includes a registration fee which is a partial payment of the total price of the trip. The registration fee of SEK 2500 is sent via a separate invoice and must be delivered to us within 5 days after the booking is confirmed via booking confirmation. Afterwards, we send an invoice with final payment.
