DAY 01

A long tradition of pottery making

After a quick lunch we will go south to our next destination near Siena. We will take a stop in the village Inpruneta, which is famous for their terracotta pots, that over the centuries has become a characterizing and distinctive element of Tuscan architecture and of the landscape, as well as a well-known product that’s exported all over the world. We will visit one special factory, The Mariani family has lived and worked here since the turn of the 1900 century. Marco and Vittorio, the fourth generation of Marianis, open up the doors to M.I.T.A.L Antica Mariani for us. DAY 02

A world known garden beauty

Today we will start early and go to The Garden of La Foce, considered one of Italy’s most beautiful private gardens. The house was originally a small inn and a monastery and was built 1498 and there were also several small farms and land to the estate. 1925 it was bought by Antonio and Iris Origo. They called in the English architect Cecil Pinsent to restore the Villa and surrounding buildings and create a large garden. The house is surrounded by a formal Italian garden, which is divided into geometrical ‘rooms’ by box hedges with lemon trees in terracotta pots. Travertine stairs lead to the rose garden and a winding wisteria-covered pergola bordered by lavender hedge. Gentle informal terraces climb up the hill, where cherry trees, pines and cypresses grow among wild broom, thyme and rosemary, and a long cypress avenue leads to a 17th-century stone statue. We will have a guided tour and there will be time for strolling on your own.

This beautiful park was created in 2014 by landscape architect Adelmo Barlesi. The area here gets very hot and dry in the summer and cold in the winter. The park has themed garden and the vision has been to choose plants that can stand the climate without needing constant irrigation. They have built ponds and canals with water pipes to collect rainwater and be able to create both a sustainable and beautiful environment for all the plants here. Parci Villa Trecci has been awarded and recognized internationally and is a very interesting and beautiful destination in Tuscany.

Dinner at Fattoria Corsignano, included.
